From October 29 to 30, the 10th WTO Global Review Conference on Aid for Trade was held in Geneva, Switzerland. Vice Minister of Commerce Jiang Chenghua led a delegation and spoke at the Africa Regional Plenary Meeting and the “China-Africa Trade and Investment Integration Cooperation to Promote Industrialization in Africa” co-hosted by China, Zambia and Rwanda. Li Yongyi, Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of China to the WTO, also attended the meeting. Jiang Chenghua said that President Xi Jinping emphasized the need to place development at the center of the international economic and trade agenda and continue to promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. China has always practiced true multilateralism, promoted the implementation of global development initiatives, and actively carried out work related to trade promotion and aid. Through South-South cooperation, China helps African countries improve infrastructure conditions, enhance trade capacity, and better achieve industrialization and economic development. China has maintained the status of Africa's largest trading partner for 17 consecutive years. China will implement comprehensive zero-tariff measures with the 53 countries that have established diplomatic relations with Africa, deepen China-Africa supply chain cooperation, give full play to the advantages of WTO rules and guarantees, safeguard the common interests of developing members, including African countries, and jointly build an all-weather community of destiny between China and Africa in the new era. Jiang Chenghua said that for the first time, China co-hosted a themed chapter with African members during the Aid for Trade Global Review Conference to share good practices in integrated trade and investment cooperation between China and Africa to promote industrialization in Africa. China has submitted relevant proposals to the WTO. More members are welcome to join to jointly explore using investment to drive trade growth, guide investment optimization through trade, help African countries and other developing members enhance their production and processing capabilities and independent development capabilities, and transform trade and investment opportunities into tangible industrialization results. During the meeting, Jiang Chenghua held separate meetings with WTO Director General Ivira, Lesotho Minister of Trade, Industry and Commercial Development, Ma Kelebo, US Deputy Trade Representative and Permanent Ambassador to the WTO Baron, and EU Ambassador to the WTO Martin Pratt.
