Stellantis just dropped Q3 2026 earnings and the stock closed at €4.22, capping a choppy three months where the share price has fallen about 15%. The headline is simple: revenue held at €37.6b while the group swung to a net loss of €470m and earnings per share slipped to a loss of €0.18.
The market is reacting to pain on the income statement. The more interesting story sits in the small but clear uplift in adjusted operating income and the early cost cuts that are starting to move margins, even as sentiment stays firmly in the penalty box.

The bullish pitch says Stellantis wins if cost discipline, not just volume, does the heavy lifting on profits.
"The main factor that has to go right is execution on the Value Creation Program cost savings and product upgrades so that North America and the captive finance arm deliver the targeted profit and cash flow uplift despite tariff, raw material and European pricing headwinds."
Q3 gives real, if early, evidence. Adjusted operating income rose while revenue stayed roughly flat and shipments dipped. That points directly to savings and mix, not sales growth. Management now expects to exceed the 40% Value Creation Program milestone by year end, with more than €2.4b run rate savings entering 2027. The cost thesis is starting to line up with the narrative rather than sitting on a slide.

Bearish research argues Stellantis will struggle to turn cost cuts into real profit while tariffs and weak regions soak up the gains.
"While management plans to reduce European manufacturing capacity by more than 800,000 units without plant closures and aims to raise utilization from about 60% to about 80% by 2030, the continuing AOI loss in Enlarged Europe of €94 million in Q2 2026, together with a 20% year over year rise in total inventory to 1.4 million units, points to a risk that fixed costs remain under absorbed, which would keep regional and possibly group earnings below the targeted 7% AOI margin."
Q3 confirms that concern. Inventories still sit at 1.4 million units and industrial free cash flow remains a €4.0 billion outflow, even as group AOI edges to 0.7%. North America pricing and cost cuts help, yet the global net loss and heavy working capital drag show the utilization and inventory milestones are not yet met.
Stellantis shows how a cleaner income story can still appear beside a net loss and a soft share price. The real opportunity is finding stocks that could be undervalued before the crowd catches up.
