Canadian Prime Minister Carney announced the launch of a national security strategy called the “Stronger Canada Plan” on the 29th. This is the first national security strategy formulated by Canada in more than 20 years. According to the strategy, the boundary between economic security and national security has disappeared. National security depends not only on defense and sufficient resources, but also on economic strength, institutional resilience, and partnerships with allies. According to the announcement, the strategy proposes five major priorities: one is to strengthen economic security and enhance its ability to withstand risks; the second is to implement a sound foreign policy to promote diversified partnerships and enhance strategic capabilities; the third is to rebuild and strengthen Canada's armed forces to defend Canada and its interests; four is to strengthen public safety to resist crime and national security threats; and the fifth is to enhance intelligence capabilities to predict and respond to emerging threats. Carney said that in a rapidly changing and increasingly dangerous world, Canada must have the ability to defend its sovereignty and be resilient to emerging threats. The Canadian Prime Minister's Office said that the Canadian government will update the strategy at least every four years.
