Speaking in Jakarta as President's Special Envoy and Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hashim Zojohadikusumo: “The President has entrusted me to help prevent the situation from getting out of control.” Hashim said, “This is an extremely serious issue. Once foreign capital is withdrawn from the domestic stock market, the Indonesian rupiah may depreciate further, and foreign debt repayment costs will rise, which will have disastrous consequences for the Indonesian economy.”
