BNB chain dual-track parallel: zero increase L1, 20 ms pre-confirmation

According to Woofun AI, the BNB Chain is advancing a major architectural upgrade and plans to build a new layer 1 (L1) network running in parallel with the existing BNB Smart Chain (BSC). The core feature of the network is that it does not issue any new digital assets, but instead allows existing BNB to be co-distributed across the two networks. Binance co-founder CZ summed up this mechanism as “multiple chains share one token.” BNB Chain updated the official technical documentation on the 22nd and officially announced the development plan, making it clear that the new network does not replace BSC, but rather interconnects with the latter through bridging technology to enable cross-chain transmission of assets and information.

According to data compiled by Woofun AI, the new network's performance targets are very ambitious: block generation time is about 200 ms (0.2 seconds), and transaction pre-confirmation time is about 20 ms (0.02 seconds). The pre-transaction confirmation function aims to provide quick feedback on the processability of a transaction before final confirmation, although these values are currently only development goals rather than actual performance. In terms of the token economy model, BNB will continue to be used in the original BSC, while taking on the role of paying transaction fees, staking, and participating in governance in the new L1. Staking involves depositing tokens to participate in network operations, while governance covers decision-making processes related to network operations.

Currently, the name of the new network has not been decided, but the design logic is to expand the use of BNB by increasing processing speed.

Judging from the execution path, BNB Chain has launched an internal development network with multiple validators and has set a clear schedule: a public test network will be launched at the end of this year to test network functionality and stability; the main network for real users to conduct transactions is expected to be launched in early 2027.

It is worth noting that the security of bridging technology connecting the two networks and the stability of asset transfer between networks are still key issues that need to be addressed in the future of this project. As the testnet approaches, the market will pay close attention to its actual performance and the reliability of the cross-chain mechanism, which will be a key point in verifying the viability of the BNB chain's dual-track parallel strategy.
