How to Connect Webull's Cloud MCP in Minutes: AI Trading Made Simple

Agentic trading comes to the Webull connector for platforms like Claude, Grok, and Perplexity, with you confirming every order.

When we launched the Webull connector, it gave your AI assistant a clear view of your account and the market. It could tell you what you held, what was moving, and what analysts thought. Then you switched over to the Webull app to act on any of it.

That handoff just got a lot shorter. The Webull connector now supports agentic trading: ask Claude to set up a trade, and it can create order instructions for stocks, options, crypto, futures, event contracts, or algorithmic orders, right in the conversation where you did the research.

One thing doesn’t change, by design. An instruction is not an order. Every instruction your assistant creates waits for you to review and confirm it in the Webull app or on Webull Desktop. Nothing reaches the market until you say so.

What’s new: trade instructions

An instruction is an order your assistant specifies on your behalf and hands to Webull to hold for your approval. You ask in plain language; the assistant can create instructions for:

• Stocks

• Options, both single-leg orders and multi-leg option strategies

• Crypto

• Futures

• Event contracts

• Algorithmic orders

It can also keep track of what it has created. Ask to see instructions still waiting for your confirmation, review the ones that have already been processed, or revoke one you no longer want. It can also check how each of your accounts is authorized, so it knows where it’s allowed to trade before it tries.

Everything the connector did before is still here: balances and positions, real-time and historical market data, company profiles and financial statements, analyst ratings and price targets, order history, and watchlists. Trading builds on top of it, so the research and the trade can live in the same thread.

Getting connected

If you’ve already set up the connector, you’re most of the way there. If not, it takes about a minute. You’ll need your Webull login (mobile number or email), your password, and your trading password, plus an account on the AI platform you’re connecting.

  • Claude. Go to Settings > click Connectors, search for Webull on the Discover tab > click Connect > and then log into your Webull account!

  • ChatGPT*. Go to Settings > Open the Plugins directory, or go straight to chatgpt.com/plugins?q=webull > Click Search Directory > select Webull > Press the Install plugin button > and then log into your Webull account!
*Trading capabilities for ChatGPT are not yet available – coming soon!
  • Grok. Go to Plugins in the bottom left > search for Webull in the search bar > click ‘Add’ > and then log into your Webull account!
  • Perplexity. Go to Customize > click Connectors > search for Webull > and then log into your Webull account! Each platform sends you to the same Webull login and authorization page.

The authorization page now covers trading

This is still the most important screen in the process, because it’s where you decide what your assistant is allowed to do. It now asks one more question for each account.

Trading or Non-Trading, account by account. Every account you authorize gets its own setting. Set an account to Trading and the assistant can create instructions for it. Leave it on Non-Trading and the assistant can read it, but it can’t trade in it. You can enable permissions for all accounts at once or edit them one at a time, so a common setup is trading on the account you’re actively managing and Non-Trading (or no access at all) on your retirement account.

Read the risk disclosure. Before you authorize, you’ll be asked to read and agree to Webull’s AI Tools Risk Disclosure.

Changing your setup later. Only one authorization can be active per platform. If you reconnect a platform that already has one, Webull asks you to confirm replacing it. That’s also how you turn trading on or off for an account later: re-run the connection and update your selections.

Each account gets its own Trading or Non-Trading setting. Account numbers blurred.

Walkthrough: from research to a ready-to-confirm trade

Here’s what a session looks like in practice. With the Webull connector selected at the start of each message.

1. Ask what it can do

“Webull, what can you do?”

The agent replies with a map of its toolset (account and portfolio, market data and charts, research, watchlists) and a dedicated section on trade instructions. It spells out that its trade tools create instructions only, not live orders, and that you approve each one in the Webull app or Desktop. It’s a good first prompt on any platform: you see what the connector offers before you ask it to do anything.

The agent lists the instruction types it can create, each needing your approval in Webull.

2. Do the research

“Analyze Apple (AAPL): show the company profile, analyst ratings, and analyst target prices. Also get today’s top gainers and losers.”

The agent calls several Webull tools in a single pass and comes back with Apple’s company profile, the analyst rating breakdown, mean, median, high, and low price targets, and ranked tables of the day’s biggest movers in both directions.

One prompt, several Webull tool calls: profile, ratings, targets, and market movers together.

3. Take a low-stakes action

“Create a new watchlist called ‘Mine Stocks’, add NVDA, AMD, and META, then get the watchlist and its instruments.”

This is a chain: the agent creates the list, adds the three names, then reads the watchlist back so you can see that it worked, all from one sentence.

The agent creates the watchlist, adds three names, and reads it back to confirm.

4. Set up the trade

Now the new part. Picking up from that watchlist, you might ask:

“Pull a quote on AMD and check the buying power in my individual cash account. Then create an instruction to buy 5 shares with a limit at the current bid.”

Working within what you’ve authorized, the agent can pull AMD’s bid and ask, check the account’s buying power, and create a stock order instruction with the details you gave it. It then tells you the instruction is waiting for your confirmation. At this point, nothing has gone to market.

5. Confirm it in Webull

Open the Webull app or Webull Desktop, review the instruction (symbol, side, quantity, price, and account), and confirm it if everything is right. Your confirmation is what turns the instruction into an order. Back in the chat, you can keep going:

• “Show me my pending instructions.”

• “What happened to the AMD instruction?”

• “Revoke the AMD instruction.”

More prompts worth trying

• “Tell me about SPY: fund overview, performance history, asset allocation, top 10 holdings, and recent dividend payouts.”

• “Which stock sectors are performing best right now? Also show me the top high-dividend stocks and stocks hitting 52-week highs.”

• “Show me any trade instructions still waiting for my confirmation.”

• “Lay out a two-leg option spread on NVDA for the next monthly expiration. Don’t create the instruction until I approve the strikes.”

Notice the pattern in that last one. You can tell the agent to stop and show you its plan before it creates anything. The confirmation in Webull is the hard stop; asking for a preview in chat is an extra checkpoint you control.

Staying in control

• Instructions, not orders. Nothing your assistant creates executes until you confirm it in the Webull app or Desktop.

• Trading is opt-in, per account. Any account left on non-trading stays read-only. Any account you don’t authorize stays invisible.

• Check every detail yourself. Before you confirm, verify the symbol, side, quantity, price, and account. AI agents can misread a request.

• Change your mind any time before you confirm. Ask the assistant to revoke a pending instruction or simply don’t confirm it.

• Every action is visible. Tool calls appear in the conversation, so you can see exactly what the assistant did.

• Disconnect instantly. Revoke access from the platform’s connector settings or from your Webull account.

• Never paste credentials into a chat. The OAuth flow exists so you don’t have to. No legitimate setup step will ask you to type a password, App Key, or App Secret into a conversation.

If something isn’t working

• The assistant says it can’t create a trade instruction. Check that the account is set to Trading on the authorization page. Re-run the connection to change it.

• You asked for a trade and nothing happened. That’s expected until you confirm. Open the Webull app or Desktop, or ask the assistant to show your pending instructions.

• You’re asked to replace an existing authorization. Also expected. Only one authorization is active per platform, so authorizing again replaces the old one.

• The assistant sees one account but not another. Only the accounts you selected are exposed. Reconnect and add the missing one.

• Tools are listed but never get called. Name Webull in your prompt or confirm the connector is turned on for that chat.

For developers

Agentic trading runs on Webull Cloud MCP, the managed server behind the connector. Any MCP client that accepts a remote server URL, including Codex, Cursor, Kiro, Zed, and Cherry Studio, can use it by pointing at https://api.webull.com/mcp and completing the same OAuth flow. (It’s a configuration endpoint, so it won’t load in a browser.)
