What is the ACATS transfer lock?

The ACATS transfer lock helps protect your account by preventing outbound ACATS transfers to another brokerage firm. The feature is available at no cost and can be turned on or off through your security settings.

Key Points

• For joint accounts, either account owner can enable or disable the lock.
• Advisors cannot manage lock settings on managed accounts.
• Retirement accounts pending full distribution are not eligible.
• Margin accounts with an open ACATS request are not eligible.

What happens when the ACATS transfer lock is enabled?

When enabled, the following actions will be blocked:

• New outbound partial or full ACATS transfer requests initiated by another brokerage firm.
• Full ACATS transfers to another brokerage firm.
• Partial ACATS transfers to another brokerage firm.

What can I still do while the ACATS transfer lock is enabled?

The lock only applies to outbound ACATS transfers. All other account activity will continue to function normally, including:

• Incoming ACATS transfers and deposits into Webull.
• Stock, options, and cryptocurrency trading.
• ACH, debit card and wire transfers.
• Transfers between your Webull accounts.

Why should I enable the ACATS transfer lock?

You may want to enable the ACATS transfer lock if you do not plan to transfer your account in the near future, believe your login credentials may have been compromised, or would like an additional layer of protection against unauthorized transfer requests initiated at another brokerage firm. This feature helps prevent outbound ACATS transfer requests while allowing normal account activity to continue.

How do I enable or disable the ACATS transfer lock?

To enable or disable the ACATS transfer lock:

1. Select Menu then Settings.
2. Select Account Status.
3. Enable or disable the lock next to Transfer Securities.

Website:

1. Click the profile icon (top right).
2. Select My Account then Manage My Account.
3. Select View Details next to Account Status.
4. Enable or disable the lock next to Transfer Securities.

Please ensure the phone number on your account is up to date, as identity verification may be completed through SMS when disabling the lock.
