Where do I deposit funds for Event Contract trading?
You will need to deposit funds into the linked individual brokerage account. Event Contract buying power is calculated as follows:
Cash Account
Event Contract Buying Power = Settled Cash Buying Power − Provisional Cash
Margin Account
Event Contract Buying Power = Lesser of (Overnight Buying Power excess or Intraday Buying Power excess) − Provisional Cash
In most cases, Settled Cash Buying Power equals Settled Cash. However, it may be lower if you have open short positions or certain options strategies, as some funds may be held as collateral.
How do funds move between my linked brokerage account and Event Contract account?
When you trade Event Contracts, the required funds are transferred from your linked brokerage account to cover the transaction. Once funds are no longer needed in your Event Contract account, or a payout occurs, they are automatically swept back into your linked brokerage account. You do not need to request these transfers manually.
Is there a minimum balance requirement, and how much do I need to place an order?
With Webull, you are not required to maintain a minimum balance to trade Event Contracts. The requirement is to have sufficient settled funds in your linked brokerage account to cover the price of the Event Contract and any related transaction fees. If your account has the necessary funds, you are free to trade as often as you wish.
How do open orders, margin requirements, and brokerage activity affect buying power?
Open orders in either your linked brokerage account or Event Contract account reserve funds, reducing the buying power available for additional Event Contract trades.
Margin requirements in your linked brokerage account may also limit available funds. Other brokerage activity or account restrictions that affect buying power or trading permissions may further reduce your Event Contract buying power or prevent you from placing new orders.
Do changes in unrealized P&L affect available buying power?
No. Changes in the value of your open Event Contract positions do not increase or decrease your available buying power. Event Contracts are fully funded at purchase, so unrealized gains cannot be used to open additional positions, and unrealized losses do not require you to add funds.
Proceeds become available for trading once you sell your contracts or receive a settlement payout.
Does idle cash or funds committed to positions earn interest?
Should your Event Trade account be linked to a cash account that participates in cash management, you will accrue interest on any idle funds. Your positions do not earn interest.
