Why did the cost basis of my positions change after my stock transfer into Webull?

This happens when Webull does not receive the original cost basis information for the shares transferred in from your delivering brokerage. The new cost basis shown on Webull is based on the stocks closing price on the day the stock transferred into your Webull account. The performance (P&L) you see in Webull is calculated based on this new cost basis price. This P&L is for visual display purposes only. Your real profit & loss on the stock will not be affected, as your original cost basis is unchanged on your tax documents, and will be reflected correctly.

If your delivering brokerage does not provide the cost basis for your transferred stocks, you can modify the cost basis of the shares yourself on the Webull mobile app after the transfer is complete. To do this on the mobile app go to your Account page, tap on “Transfers,” then tap “Transfer Stocks into Webull," then tap “Modify the Cost Price.”
