McDonald's Corp. on Friday said it is planning to make "difficult" decisions about changes to its corporate staffing levels by April, as part of a broader strategic plan for the burger chain.

McDonald's plan to trim or reorganize corporate staff comes as the company said it will expand its business globally, including through new and more types of restaurants.

Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski said in an interview that he expects to save money as part of the staffing assessment, but doesn't doesn't have a set dollar amount to slash or number of jobs he's looking to cut.

"Some jobs that are existing today are either going to get moved or those jobs may go away," Mr. Kempczinski said in an interview Friday.
