McCarthy Tells Republicans They're in a Good Position in Speaker Negotiations, No Deal Yet -- WSJ

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) told Republicans they had made good progress in negotiations, according to multiple people on a Friday morning call.

Mr. McCarthy also told reporters who could be listening into the call to hang up, and said there was no deal yet.

Still, he told members, they were in "a good position."

"I'm not telling you we have an agreement. We're in a good position and having meetings," the people recounted Mr. McCarthy saying.
