Duke Energy Wins North Carolina Regulatory Ok of 5-Megawatt Solar Project
09:50 AM EDT, 05/12/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Duke Energy (DUK), an electric utility, said Wednesday it has won approval from North Carolina regulators for its 5-megawatt solar project in Buncombe County -- the company's first to be located on a retired county landfill.
Duke said in a statement that it obtained the green light from the N.C. Utilities Commission to start construction.
Duke will own and operate the plant, which is expected to be in service by the end of this year, and will produce enough energy annually to power about 1,000 homes and businesses, according to the statement.
