Semiconductor Makers, Users Launch Semiconductors in America Coalition, Seeking $50 Billion in Federal Funding
03:37 PM EDT, 05/11/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Companies that make and use semiconductors have launched the Semiconductors in America Coalition amid a global shortage of chips, urging $50 billion in federal funding to support domestic chip manufacturing incentives and research initiatives.
President Joe Biden has proposed $50 billion for the CHIPS for America Act as part of his $2.3 trillion infrastructure package.
The coalition's members include Intel (INTC), Nvidia (NVDA), Qualcomm (QCOM), Amazon's (AMZN) Amazon Web Services, Apple (AAPL), AT&T (A), Alphabet's (GOOG) Google, Microsoft (MSFT), and Verizon (VZ).
