Ultium Cells, Li-Cycle Join Forces to Boost Battery Cell Materials Recycling
08:31 AM EDT, 05/11/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Ultium Cells, a joint venture between General Motors (GM) and LG Energy Solution, said Tuesday it signed an agreement with Li-Cycle to recycle up to 100% of the material scrap from battery cell manufacturing.
The new recycling process will allow Ultium Cells to recycle battery materials, including cobalt, nickel, lithium, graphite, copper, manganese and aluminum, the company said.
The company said 95% of these materials can be used in the production of new batteries or for related industries.
