US Stocks Mixed in Midday Trading
12:07 PM EDT, 05/10/2021 (MT Newswires) -- US stocks were mixed amid a surge in base metal prices and government bond yields declined along with oil futures in midday trading on Monday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.8% to 35,052.55, while the Nasdaq dropped by 1.3% to 13,579.65. S&P 500 slipped by 0.1% to 4,231.80. Utilities and consumer staples advanced, leading the gainers, while technology and communication services were among the steepest decliners.
The US 10-year yield declined by 1.1 basis points to just under 1.57%. The West Texas Intermediate futures retreated by 0.3% to $64.73.
