Telefonica to Sell Four Data Centers in Exchange for 20% Stake in Nabiax
04:55 AM EDT, 05/10/2021 (MT Newswires) -- Telefonica SA (TEF) has reached a deal with Asterion Industrial Partner to sell four data centers to Nabiax in exchange for a 20% stake in the colocation and hosting service company.
The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals, covers four data centers located in Spain and Chile with an installed service capacity of 9.9 megawatts. The deal does not include the sale of servers owned by Telefonica, nor the management and access to customers hosted on them, according to a statement released on Monday.
Asterion and its coinvestors will maintain 80% of Nabiax's share capital upon closing. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Spanish telecommunications company also said that it will continue developing its commercial partnership with Nabiax and will explore new joint business opportunities, such as new services, edge computing and data center automation.
