Germany hopes to soon get all-clear for AstraZeneca vaccine - Scholz

- German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said he expected the European Medicines Agency (EMA) to decide swiftly on how to proceed with AstraZeneca's AZN.L COVID-19 vaccine after several European countries suspended its use due to safety concerns.

"Of course we hope that the AstraZeneca vaccine can be used again - as it is already the case in many other countries around the world," Scholz said on Tuesday when asked to comment on Berlin's decision to suspend the vaccine.

Scholz said the government's decision was based on a recommendation of the politically independent health experts at Germany's Paul Ehrlich Institute and that the move was a purely precautionary measure. nL8N2LE2KT
