DJ T2 Biosystems Shares Rise 29% on Covid-19 Test Detecting Brazil Variant
By Chris Wack
T2 Biosystems Inc. shares were up 29% to $3.10 Friday after the company said its T2SARS-CoV-2 Panel is capable of detecting the Brazil P.1 variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which was recently confirmed to be present in the U.S.
The company on Thursday said a specific analysis of sequences for the Brazil variant confirmed its T2SARS-CoV-2 Panel should be able to detect this variant with high confidence and reliability. This analysis expands the proven utility of the panel beyond the previously announced capability to detect the B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 variants.
The T2SARS-CoV-2 Panel, which has demonstrated clinical sensitivity of 95% and specificity of 100%, provides results in under two hours using an upper respiratory swab sample, the company said.
