DJ T2 Biosystems Says Test Can Detect Brazil Variant of Covid, Shares Move Higher

Shares of T2 Biosystems Inc. are trading higher in Thursday's after-hours market, following the company saying its T2SARS-CoV-2 Panel can detect the Brazil variant of the SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for Covid-19 infections.
The company said the Brazil variant was recently confirmed to be present in the U.S.
At 5:09 p.m. EST, T2 Biosystems shares were trading 22.08% higher at $2.93. Volume at the time topped 10.4 million shares.
The company's stock finished the day's regular-trading session with a 7.14% gain, closing at $2.40.
"We continue to actively monitor new variants of the Covid-19 virus to confirm that our technology remains a useful and reliable diagnostic tool for the many health care systems and people that need it during this time," said John Sperzel, president and chief executive.
