How will Americans vote this fall given the coronavirus pandemic roiling the country? Will states mandate that voters mail in their ballots?

Gallup recently released data on how Americans prefer exercising their right to vote come the 2020 presidential election in November.

Benzinga analyzed data from this study to find out how Americans feel, by political party, about states allowing voting by mail as an option in November.

Among Democrats, 83% favor voting by mail, while only 40% of Republicans would want to mail in their ballot. Among independents, 68% prefer to mail in their ballot versus visiting a voting booth this fall.

One thing’s for sure: a majority of Americans, regardless of political party, feel that states should allow voting by mail in November.

Data revealed that 64% of American voters overall favor voting by mail.
