Iofina Signs Water Deal for Planned US Iodine Plant

04:30 AM EST, 12/05/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Iodine producer Iofina (IOF.L) said Friday it signed a deal with Western Midstream Partners to supply produced water for the former's planned IOsorb plant in the Permian Basin, US. Iofina expects to spend $8 million to $9 million on the plant's development, expected to start by 2025-end. The plant, expected to be operational in the second half of 2026, will have an annual production range of between 170 metric tonnes of crystalline iodine and 220 metric tonnes. Western Midstream will supply up to 50,000 barrels per day and will receive a royalty fee on the plant's production.
