Shell Boosts Stake in Two Offshore Oil Projects in Brazil

11:50 AM EST, 12/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- A subsidiary of Shell (SHEL.L, SHELL.AS) raised its stakes in two pre-salt oil projects in Brazil's offshore Santos Basin after bidding in an auction held by Pré-Sal Petróleo. Shell Brasil Petróleo increased its shareholding in the Atapu field to 16.917% from 16.663%, while its stake in the Mero field was bumped up to 20% from 19.3%, the UK-based oil and gas major said Thursday. The subsidiary, together with Brazilian oil company Petrobras, acquired 26.76% and 20% of the open acreage in Atapu and Mero, respectively, offering to pay $50.5 million and $293.4 million.
