The international academic journal “Cell” published the research results of Professor Ning Guogui's team from the National Key Laboratory of Germplasm Innovation and Utilization of Fruit and Vegetable Horticultural Crops at Huazhong Agricultural University in the middle of the night of September 2, Beijing time, entitled “A de novo induced gene drives rose scent diversification”. The results revealed a multi-step process for the birth of a novel gene and the mechanism of influence of this gene on plant phenotypes. The study not only provided a new perspective for re-examining the origin mechanism of plant genes, but also opened up new ideas for designing new genes and improving biological traits from scratch in the field of botany.
