French President Emmanuel Macron said he is closely coordinating with the King of Jordan today to prepare for the two-state solution meeting to be held in New York on September 22. Together, we reaffirm our firm opposition to any plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip involving the forced relocation of people or the placement of the territory under guardianship. Such proposals are contrary to international law and will only lead to a complete impasse. We also reaffirm that Israel's military actions on the ground in Gaza City are unacceptable and that such reckless actions will only lead to endless conflict. Our priorities have always been clear and constant: a lasting cease-fire, the release of all hostages, large-scale humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, and the establishment of a sustainable political solution, which includes disarming Hamas and establishing a stabilization mission in the Gaza Strip. In light of the events of September 22, we are working with the King of Jordan and all partners to construct a credible and hopeful future for the entire region to respond to the legitimate demands of both Israel and Palestine. Two nations, two nations: this is the only path to a peaceful future. We also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense.
