The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to data from the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV), electric vehicles accounted for 97% of new passenger car registrations in Norway in August. Among them, Tesla (TSLA.US) models accounted for 22% of new Norwegian car sales, while Volkswagen's sales accounted for about 13%. Chinese manufacturer BYD's car sales in Norway more than tripled last month, while the monthly sales volume of Toyota and Volvo was far lower than the same period last year.

In 2020, Norway became the first country to sell more electric vehicles than fossil fuel models, and this increase was supported by a range of incentives such as lower tolls and exemptions or lower VAT. Due to the extremely high penetration rate of electric vehicles, manufacturers have poured into the Norwegian market and launched about 170 electric models for consumers to choose from.
