Lebanese Hezbollah leader Naim Qasim reiterated on the 2nd that since Israel poses a “real and strategic threat,” Hezbollah “will never lay down its arms.” Qasim said at a rally held in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, that despite international calls for the Lebanese government to disarm armed groups in the country, discussions within Lebanon about Hezbollah's role in the national security pattern are intensifying, but “weapons are used against Israel, and we will never relinquish this right. We cannot give in to Israel, and we will not be swayed by any pressure”. Qasim said, “Israel is a real and strategic threat to Palestine, Lebanon, and the entire region. We are a resistance organization, and our responsibility is to resist and confront.” He also expressed his firm opposition to any interference in Lebanon's internal affairs by outside forces.
