The Zhitong Finance App learned that according to the National Energy Administration on June 10, the National Energy Administration held a video conference on May 30 to schedule the National Renewable Energy Electricity Development and Construction Month (May). The conference pointed out that from January to April 2025, China's renewable energy development momentum is good, the installed capacity continues to expand, and the power generation capacity is growing steadily. By the end of April 2025, the country's installed capacity of renewable energy generation had exceeded 2 billion kilowatts, an increase of 26% over the previous year. In the first quarter, it surpassed thermal power as the main power source. The country's renewable energy generation capacity was 1120.2 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 38% of power generation. Wind power photovoltaics generated 744.6 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 25% of power generation. The role of securing supply and promoting transformation is becoming more and more obvious.

The National Energy Administration organized the National Renewable Energy Power Development and Construction Month (May) scheduling video conference

On May 30, the National Energy Administration held the National Renewable Energy Power Development and Construction Month (May) scheduling video conference. Wan Jinsong, member of the party group and deputy director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The conference summarized the overall situation of renewable energy development in the country from January to April 2025, listened to the implementation of opinions and suggestions put forward at the last monthly dispatch meeting, the progress of construction of major renewable energy projects in the country, the supply, demand and development of the wind power and photovoltaic industry chain, analyzed the situation and problems facing renewable energy development, and put forward requirements for the next steps.

In May 2025, the Climate Organization officially announced that RE100 unconditionally fully recognized China's green certificate. China's green certificate “going global” achieved a historic breakthrough, which is an important milestone.

According to the conference, focusing on promoting the high-quality development of new energy sources, the country has successively issued a series of important policy documents since this year, which have been earnestly implemented by all regions and the entire industry, with remarkable results. As new energy sources enter a new stage of large-scale, high-proportion, market-based development, all parties should firmly establish a market concept, adapt to industry development trends, and actively explore the establishment of new models and methods covering development, consumption and utilization from upstream and downstream industrial chain development, from the power generation side to the user side.

The conference emphasized that in the second half of the year, we should focus on four priorities. The first is to hasten the completion of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and complete the construction of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases and 102 major projects to ensure that they are completed as scheduled. The second is to speed up the preparation of the “15th Five-Year Plan” renewable energy development plan, establish scientific ideas, make good connections with other plans, listen widely to opinions and suggestions from local authorities, enterprises, experts and all sectors of the industry, and form high-quality planning results. The third is to urgently implement the policies already promulgated and implemented, make good connections between old and new policies, and ensure a smooth transition. Fourth, urgently study corresponding policies, respond to corporate concerns, further increase policy supply, and continue to promote high-quality development of new energy sources.

Relevant responsible comrades from relevant departments (bureaus) of the National Energy Administration, the relevant departments (bureaus) of the National Energy Administration, various provinces (districts, cities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, the National Energy Administration sent agencies, relevant power grid companies, power generation companies, the General Hydropower Administration, the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Wind Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, and the China Hydropower Engineering Society to attend the conference.
