The Zhitong Finance App learned that, according to reports, a newly built Boeing (BA.US) 737 Max airliner arrived in China on Monday. The flight indicates that Boeing may restart aircraft deliveries to China Airlines as trade tensions between China and the US show signs of easing.

The plane, painted by Xiamen Airlines, left Seattle on Saturday and arrived at Boeing's completed plant in Zhoushan, near Shanghai.

Due to the escalation of the trade situation between China and the US, Boeing's delivery of aircraft to Chinese customers has been suspended since April. However, Boeing announced at the end of May that deliveries are expected to resume in June after 90 days of temporary reduction in some tariffs.

Data from Flightradar24 showed that the 737 Max, which landed on Monday, had previously arrived in Zhoushan in March, but it flew back to the US in April due to China Airlines suspending acceptance of new Boeing aircraft.

China accounts for about 10% of Boeing's commercial aircraft orders and remains a key market for the company. Officials from China and the US are expected to hold trade talks in London on Monday, which gives hope for further easing of bilateral tension.

In April of this year, Boeing returned at least three 737 Max airliners from Zhoushan. These airliners were originally intended to be delivered to Chinese customers.

Boeing previously admitted that due to the tariff environment, it is unable to deliver planes to China and is considering reselling several aircraft. Despite this, the company chose not to redistribute the aircraft, citing inventory restrictions.

Boeing said earlier this year that it plans to deliver around 50 aircraft to China Airlines in 2025, of which more than 40 are already in production or completion.

As of press time, Boeing was up 0.81% in the premarket. The company has accumulated a 19% increase since this year.
