BISSELL Pet Foundation Celebrates 1 Million Pets Impacted Through Lifesaving Initiatives

Milestone Marks 14 Years of Unwavering Commitment to Reducing Shelter Pet Populations

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., June 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- BISSELL Pet Foundation proudly announces a historic milestone: 1 million pets impacted through its national rescue, adoption, transport, and spay/neuter initiatives. Since its founding in 2011 by Cathy Bissell, the foundation has been dedicated to reducing pet homelessness and providing critical resources to shelters across the country.

• Fix the Future® – The fastest-growing free spay/neuter program in the U.S., providing direct payments to veterinarians and connecting them with shelters and pet owners in need. With a network of more than 340 relief veterinarians, the program ensures pets receive spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and microchips for $35 or less.
• Empty the Shelters® – The nation's largest funded adoption event, helping pets find families by making adoption more affordable. BISSELL Pet Foundation provides financial support to participating organizations to help cover adoption costs.
• Crisis and Disaster Response – Through its Animal Incident Management (AIM) team, BISSELL Pet Foundation provides emergency rescue, transport and shelter support for pets in harm's way during natural disasters and large-scale crises. In collaboration with Animal Search and Rescue (ASAR) and partner shelters throughout the country, the foundation helps relocate and care for animals in urgent need.
• Transport Program – By moving adoptable pets from overcrowded shelters—particularly in high-intake regions—to areas with higher adoption demand, the foundation has helped thousands of pets find homes.
