The Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission's “Ride the Waves and Stay Steady” seminar received enthusiastic responses and strongly promoted communication with the securities industry

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on June 9, the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission held a securities industry development seminar on the theme of “Riding the Wave and Striving for Progress”, which attracted about 700 senior representatives from the securities industry to have in-depth exchanges on the findings of regulatory observations and the latest compliance issues, further strengthening the ties between the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission and the industry. The topics discussed at the conference covered recent developments in the initial public offering market and measures to promote innovation in exchange-traded products and tokenized products. To help brokerage firms improve their operational efficiency and resilience, the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission also explained optimized account opening methods and emphasized the importance of continuously improving cyber security and internal control measures to prevent unauthorized transactions.

Dr. Yip Chi-hang, Executive Director of the Intermediaries Department of the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission, delivered the opening speech, stressing the importance of interaction between regulators and the industry: “Today's seminar was actively attended by the industry, reflecting the commitment of the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission and the financial industry to maintain active communication and strengthen exchanges. Our close collaboration will drive the industry to continuously improve its professionalism and help Hong Kong maintain its position as a leading international financial center in an increasingly complex and changing global environment.”

In his keynote address, Member Lee Wai-hung of the Financial Services Sector Functional Group of the Hong Kong Legislative Council acknowledged the unremitting efforts of the Hong Kong Securities Regulatory Commission in promoting market development and industry contacts. He said, “The seminar built a bridge of communication between the industry and regulators, allowing participants to grasp the latest information on markets, products and regulations, which will help improve overall business standards; and the new guidelines on how to open accounts will help brokers improve efficiency and open up new markets.”
