Advocate Health Care, Illinois’ largest health system, has opened the first of ten new clinics planned as part of a $1 billion investment in Chicago’s South Side.

The Neighborhood Care Clinic, located inside New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church at 7640 S. Cottage Grove Ave., opened this month, reported the Chicago Business Journal.

Last year, Advocate Health Care announced plans to invest $1 billion over the next ten years in a new hospital, ten outpatient locations, and other initiatives across the South Side of Chicago, including constructing a $300 million hospital to replace Advocate Trinity Hospital on the former U.S. Steel South Works site.

“This new clinic and its location in a space that’s not traditionally associated with health care delivery mark the beginning of a new era in accessible, comprehensive health services in Chicago’s South Side community,” said Dia Nichols, president of Advocate Health Care, in a statement.
