On the occasion of commemorating the Chinese people's victory in the War of Resistance against Japan, the Soviet Union's victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, China and Russia issued a joint statement on further deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between China and Russia in the new era. Among them, it was mentioned that the two sides pointed out that one of the strategic risks that need to be eliminated urgently is the expansion of military alliances by certain nuclear weapon states in sensitive regions surrounding other nuclear weapon states, putting pressure on them by force or carrying out hostile acts that threaten the fundamental security interests of other countries. The two sides condemned the development of unrestricted global multi-level anti-missile systems by some nuclear weapon states, deploying land-based short- and medium-range missiles against other nuclear weapon states, and promoting extremely destructive so-called “extended deterrence” and “nuclear sharing” arrangements, undermining regional stability and global security. Both sides oppose all kinds of acts of provocation against nuclear weapon states that promote tension and strategic risks. The two sides pointed out that the United States and its allies are trying to push NATO eastward into Asia and the Pacific, form a “small circle” in the Asia-Pacific region, and win over countries in the region to implement their “Indo-Pacific Strategy” and disrupt regional peace, stability and prosperity. The two sides oppose the establishment of a “nuclear sharing” military alliance against China and Russia, oppose arranging the deployment of nuclear weapons systems in the region under the pretext of strengthening “extended deterrence”, and oppose the deployment of global anti-missile systems and land-based intermediary missile systems that disrupt strategic stability.
