SMIC (00981) net profit of 1,356 billion yuan in the first quarter increased 166.5% year-on-year

According to the Zhitong Finance App, SMIC (00981) announced results for the first quarter of 2025, with operating income of 16.301 billion yuan (RMB, same below), up 29.4% year on year; net profit to mother of 1,356 billion yuan, up 166.5% year on year; basic earnings per share of 0.17 yuan.

According to IFRS, in the first quarter, the company achieved overall sales revenue of US$2,247 billion, an increase of 1.8%; gross margin was 22.5%, which was roughly the same; and capacity utilization rose to 89.6%, an increase of 4.1 percentage points over the previous quarter.

In the second quarter, the company gave revenue guidance of 4% to 6% month-on-month, and gross margin guidance of 18% to 20%.
