The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Hong Kong Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Chen Meibao, said that the “Hong Kong Transport Department” was implemented in July 2023. By the end of March this year, the Hong Kong Transport Department had issued a total of about 144,000 closed road permits to “Hong Kong Motor Go North” applicants, with 1 out of every 5 to 6 eligible vehicles participating. The number of bridges used has also reached new highs, with “Hong Kong cars going north” accounting for about 40% of them. The Guangdong and Hong Kong governments have been closely monitoring its implementation and implemented timely optimization measures to provide applicants with better convenience and travel experience.

Chen Meibao said that since the implementation of “Hong Kong Bus Goes North”, the number of travel reservations has increased to about 61,000 to 82,000 per month in the first quarter of this year. As for the “Guangdong train going south,” Chen Meibao said that the HKSAR Government is continuing to actively discuss detailed plans and implementation arrangements with various mainland units, and it is expected that the details will be announced within this year.
