Peking University's Modern Agriculture Research Institute, Weifang Modern Agriculture Shandong Laboratory, and the National Key Laboratory of Wheat Breeding have achieved breakthrough results — for the first time in the world, they have successfully drawn up a complete telometer-to-telomeric genome map of hexaploid wheat, enabling accurate assembly of the wheat genome from “head” to “tail” without gaps. This achievement marks a new stage in wheat genomics research, providing important support for China's staple food crops to stand on their own feet in a high level of science and technology and to firmly grasp the food security initiative. The relevant research results were recently published in the international academic journal “Nature Genetics”.
