In this context, von der Leyen explored the possibility of strengthening cooperation between the EU and the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement. Earlier, she had her first talks on the subject with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon last week. Von der Leyen expressed the EU's intention to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with Singapore in the field of security and defense. She also encouraged formal negotiations on cooperation between Singapore and the world's largest research and innovation project “Horizon Europe.”
