Freight data company Vizion said in a recently released report entitled “Tariff Shock Wave” that US import orders showed signs of collapse after surging in the first quarter. According to Vizion's data comparing March 24-31, 2025 and the following week, the total number of pre-ordered TEUs fell sharply by 49% month-on-month, and overall imports from the US fell sharply by 64% month-on-month. The company said that the tariff policy has caused great uncertainty, and shippers urgently put on the brakes when conditions change. As tariff-related uncertainty worsened further in April, there was a clear collapse in real-time bookings. Vizion mentioned that US clothing import orders fell by 59.1%, which is the product type with the biggest drop.
