Comprehensive Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement between Hong Kong, China and Armenia enters into force

The Zhitong Finance App learned that the Comprehensive Avoidance of Double Taxation (Comprehensive Agreement) between Hong Kong, China and Armenia in June last year came into effect on April 9, 2025 after completing the relevant approval procedures, and applies to Hong Kong taxes for any tax year beginning on or after April 1, 2026.

A spokesman for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government said, “The comprehensive agreement ensures that enterprises and residents of Hong Kong and Armenia do not have to pay taxes twice on the same income, so that they can clearly determine their tax burdens and save taxes when engaging in cross-border business activities, which helps promote bilateral trade and investment. To date, Hong Kong has signed comprehensive agreements with 51 tax jurisdictions.”
