In Donghai County, Lianyungang, Jiangsu, it is possible to produce 150 million pairs of “wearable armor” every year. 40% of these are sold to more than 30 countries and regions around the world through cross-border e-commerce, making a big business at the fingertips of a small finger. According to information, since this year, overseas consumers are no longer satisfied with simple low-cost models, but prefer beautifully designed, handmade “wearing nails” rich in cultural connotations. Unlike assembly line mass production, some of the exported products can reach thousands of dollars for high-end “wearable nails”. Most of them are hand-painted by manicurists or even intangible heritage craftsmen. Each piece incorporates creativity and ingenuity, and is regarded as a “miniature work of art” by some foreign buyers. Currently, there are nearly 100 wearable nail companies in the East China Sea. In the first two months of 2025, production surpassed 30 million pairs and reached sales of 3 billion yuan. More than half of these were exported overseas, and total sales are expected to exceed 15 billion yuan for the whole year.
