On March 11, the Shanghai Municipal Consumer Insurance Commission announced the investigation of automobile insurance consumption in Shanghai. The investigation found that online and offline insurance channels are unobstructed; although there are differences in the insurance service experience between fuel vehicle and new energy vehicle owners, they are concerned about claim efficiency and loss determination amounts. At the same time, the interviewees made corresponding demands for transparency in car insurance pricing and personalized service, especially for “quick and easy compensation.” The Shanghai Consumer Insurance Commission pointed out that rebates on car insurance sales have hidden compliance risks. The visit revealed that many insurance companies still give consumers “hidden” discounts on car insurance in the form of return shopping cards or cash credits. This act already violates Article 116 of the “Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China”. Insurance companies and their employees must not induce consumers to buy insurance products by returning cash, shopping cards, or other forms of benefits.
