US President-designate Donald Trump's incoming special envoy to the Middle East said negotiators were close to reaching an agreement to secure the release of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas. “I think we've made some really big progress, and I'm hoping we can announce some good news on behalf of the president before the inauguration,” Steven Witkoff said Tuesday at Trump's Sea-Lake Estate in Florida. Trump once again threatened that Hamas would pay the price if the hostages were not released before his inauguration on January 20.
