Defendant Mei Zhengrong was sentenced to 11 years in prison and a fine of RMB 2.5 million yuan for taking bribes; the proceeds of the crime of bribery were recovered and handed over to the national treasury. After investigation, it was discovered that from 2005 to 2022, Mei Zhengrong used the convenience of holding positions such as Director of the Transportation Administration Bureau of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation, Director of the Taicang Port Management Committee, Deputy Mayor of Suzhou City, and the convenient conditions of authority and position to assist relevant units and individuals in automobile sales, project undertaking, route development, etc., through the actions of workers in other countries, in terms of automobile sales, project undertaking, route development, etc., and illegally accepted a total of more than RMB 27.19 million worth of property delivered by others.
