The first hydrogen fueling station open to the public in Hong Kong, the Aotou hydrogen station, held a completion ceremony on the 26th. This hydrogen fueling station, located in Yuen Long, New Territories, was built and operated by Sinopec Limited. It is the first integrated fueling station in Hong Kong integrating “oil, gas, hydrogen, electricity and service”. At the completion ceremony on the same day, the Secretary for Environment and Ecology of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Tse Chin-wan, said that the HKSAR Government has been “breaking down the wall and unbundling” of hydrogen energy applications, not only announcing the “Hong Kong Hydrogen Energy Development Strategy”, but also setting up an interdepartmental working group to promote suitable test projects. Next year, the HKSAR Government will submit proposals to amend the Gas Safety Ordinance to the Legislative Council with a view to formulating a “green hydrogen” or “low carbon hydrogen” energy standard test certification model suitable for Hong Kong by 2027 and turning Hong Kong into a demonstration base for the green hydrogen industry.
