“This has been an easier year to transact versus last year,” Gary Bechtel, CEO of Red Oak Capital Holdings, told Connect Orange County 2024 attendees during the “Getting Deals Done” panel. Nonetheless, Bechtel and the other commercial real estate experts who took the stage at the Hyatt Regency Irvine earlier this month offered candid assessments of the current market.

It’s a market that, despite seeing more transaction activity than we saw in 2023, has presented its own challenges. “Two or three years ago, we literally could not build industrial buildings fast enough,” said Taylor Arnett, SVP, acquisitions at CapRock Partners during the ‘SoCal Industrial Market” discussion (pictured above). Now, he continued, “We’re at a point where developers are not building unless they started a project in the past nine to 12 months.”
