On September 27, Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Ningde Times, said at the 2024 World New Energy Vehicle Conference that the Ningde Era will build new zero-carbon infrastructure to open up new opportunities for climate action. The new zero-carbon infrastructure is the core to achieve zero carbon emissions and promote infrastructure upgrades through scientific and technological innovation and new commercialization models. Zeng Yuqun believes that as a core element of a new zero-carbon infrastructure, batteries must be recyclable; otherwise, they will bring new environmental problems. However, it is quite difficult to achieve battery recyclability. Almost everything can become a threshold, such as lengthy processes, profit issues, and complex battery management issues. Ningde Era has established a complete battery life cycle management system, covering all aspects of the upstream supply chain, battery design, production, use, recycling and remanufacturing. In 2023, Ningde Era recycled 100,000 tons of waste batteries and re-produced 13,000 tons of lithium carbonate. The lithium recovery rate reached 91%, and the nickel-cobalt-manganese recovery rate reached 99.6%. The scale of lithium battery recycling in the Ningde era ranked first in the world for many years in a row. Zeng Yuqun believes that the Ningde era has a disposal capacity of 270,000 tons of waste batteries, which will reach 1 million tons in the future. It is estimated that by 2042, the Ningde era will be able to recover half of the lithium used in batteries and half use minerals, and there will no longer be a need to mine new mineral resources.
