CBOT Trends-Wheat up 1-3 cents, corn up 4-6 cents, soy up 14-16 cents

- Following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Friday.

NOTE: Markets will be closed on Monday for the U.S. Labor Day holiday.

WHEAT - Up 1 to 3 cents per bushel

* CBOT wheat futures extend gains on month-end short covering and concerns over lower production in Europe, analysts said.

* In the Black Sea region, dryness will hamper winter wheat plantings in September, Commodity Weather Group said.

* Deliveries against CBOT September wheat futures were 416 contracts, compared with analysts' expectations for 100 to 500 contracts.

* CBOT December soft red winter wheat WZ24 was last up 1 cent at $5.49-3/4 per bushel and touched its highest price since Aug. 20. K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ24 was last up 1/4 cent at $5.60-3/4 a bushel, while MGEX December spring wheat MWEZ24 was last up 3/4 cent at $5.91-1/4 a bushel.

CORN - Up 4 to 6 cents per bushel

* Short covering lifts CBOT corn after the most-active contract Cv1 matched a four-year low this week. Strong weekly U.S. export sales add support, though large U.S. harvest prospects limit gains, analysts said.

* In Argentina, 2024/25 corn planting is estimated to drop 17.1% year-on-year, the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange said on Thursday.

* Deliveries against CBOT September corn futures were 12 contracts, compared with estimates for zero to 500 contracts.

* CBOT December corn CZ24 was last up 4-1/4 cents at $4.00-1/4 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Up 14 to 16 cents per bushel

* Soybean futures bounce on short covering and improving U.S. export demand, with the most-active contract Sv1 trading above $10 per bushel.

* Exporters sold 132,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to China and 100,000 metric tons of soymeal to Colombia, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a daily reporting system.

* USDA has projected a record U.S. crop, though traders worry hot, dry weather may dent yield potential.

* Deliveries against CBOT September soybean futures were 6 contracts, compared with estimates for zero to 500 contracts.

* CBOT November soybeans SX24 were last up 14-3/4 cents at $10.07-1/4 per bushel.
