What is an IPO?

An IPO is an Initial Public Offering and refers to the first time that a private corporation offers shares to the public in a new stock issuance. These stocks are currently in registration and are still awaiting listing on the secondary market. This allows the issuing company to raise capital from public investors and those investors will be the first individuals to receive the stock on listing date.
